The Icon building is a 30-story Class A apartment tower currently under construction and located in the West Campus neighborhood of the University of Texas at Austin. The building is needed to keep up with UT Austin’s fast-growing student population and will be stocked with state-of-the-art amenities including a rooftop pool, fitness center, game/lounge rooms, a podcast studio, and plenty of student workspaces to go around. Once complete, this will be one of the tallest buildings in the surrounding neighborhoods. Hoar Construction is the General Contractor and Keystone Concrete is the Structural Concrete Contractor.

This project is on a tight schedule as it needs to be completed by the summer of 2025 in time for students to move in for the 25-26 school year. RediStair® was able to assist the schedule by designing and coordinating the stairs in the design phase and providing stairs as needed or “just in time” to the project during construction. Pablo Saldana, a Superintendent with Keystone Concrete also commented on the ease of installing RediStair®. He mentioned that Keystone had recently done a CIP stairwell on a project nearby and would much rather have utilized RediStair®. This is because of the ease of installation in addition to the ~42% per flight man-hour savings due to the reduced amount of labor required to install RediStair® versus forming, reinforcing, and pouring a CIP installation.
